Hello, bookworms! I am wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving Day, filled with many blessings and spent with the people that you love. I wanted to take today’s post to say I am very thankful for this blog and for whoever takes the time to read it. This is my first book tag EVER, so I am very excited to do this.
Here we go:
1. Bread- What book is purely fluff, and has no real plot line?
Too Far Trilogy (Rosemary Beach Series) by Abbi Glines
These books were really fun to read and I loved them to a certain degree, but they seemed to lack a real, steady plot. It focused too much on the main character’s experience with her love interest and the narrative rarely ever stepped back to allow a bigger picture to form. I guess the first two books did sort of have a storyline, but the last book was a bit unnecessary in my opinion. Still, I don’t complain because I did love to read more about Rush and Blaire.
2. Turkey- What book made you want to fall asleep?
Beastly by Alex Flinn
This book will forever be the dullest string of words that went on for 300 pages. I read this in 2011 after the movie came out and I can say it’s one of the few books that are not better than their adaptations. The plot was ok, the characters were ok, the writing was just…meh. This sucks because I loved Alex Flinn’s modern day re-telling of Sleeping Beauty A Kiss In Time.
3. Gravy- What book makes the whole series worth reading?
Last Stand (The Black Mage, #4) by Rachel E. Carter
One of the best conclusions to a series ever, the fourth book in this fantasy saga makes me want to reread the other three just to savor the hard fight to the ending again.
4. Stuffing- What book is stuffed full of action scenes?
Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1) by Jesse Petersen
I honestly couldn’t think of any great book that is packed with action scenes, but I can assure you that Married With Zombies is one big action scene from start to finish. Plus, despite the gore, it’s a really fun and entertaining read.
5. Mashed Potatoes- What book looked good, and then wasn’t?
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
The cover and the blurb had me swooning over this book long before it came out, long before they ever thought about making it a movie. The disappointment I felt was so great, this book made it into my DNF list.
6. Cranberries- What book has the sweetest romance?
Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins
One of the best romances I’ve read. Just the right amount of sweetness, passion and forbidden love. I suffered a major book hangover with this one. YA books that feature sweet romances are the Fill-in Boyfriend and The Distance Between Us by Kasie West, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.
7. Corn- What’s the corniest book you’ve ever read?
Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
The DEFINITION of corny…and yet, I had to finish it.
8. Green beans- What book is too long and needs to be shortened?
The Witching Hour by Anne Rice
This book is PURE genius. I absolutely loved it but…are 1,207 pages really necessary to convey the story? I think if it went through another round of editing and some things were shortened, it would be ten times better.
9. Pumpkin Pie- What book do you read to get out of a reading slump?
I really couldn’t pick one because it varies constantly and it depends a lot on my current mood, but I usually go for something light fluffy that takes my mind off things: Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith…
Sometimes, depending on how bad the reading slump is, I might dive into a loved series I hadn’t read in a while.
10. Dog/Cat- What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food that you would steal from the table?
… and any other desert on the table haha.
(Disclaimer: image of pumpkin pie was found on Pinterest)
