Hello beautiful bookworms! Welcome to my first Top Five Tuesday post of 2018.
When I have a lot of things on my mind, stress is high and there’s little time to read, I try to pick up light novels that are easy to read and that are guaranteed to help me unwind and relax. The books listed below have been favorites of mine for that precise reason. They’re books that don’t require much brainpower; like a sweet balm to the headache caused by a very hard day. They are sweet, with just the right amount of lightweight fluffy romance, and slap-my-hand-on-the-table-while-I-laugh-out-loud funny.
1. I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter
An academy for young spies and a healthy dose of teenage love and angst. What more could you ask for?
2. Sucks to Be Me: The All-True Confessions of Mina Hamilton, Teen Vampire (maybe) by Kimberly Pauley
Mina Hamilton doesn’t have it easy. School, trying to get her high school crush to notice her and deciding wether or not she’ll want to become one of the undead is not easy on a sixteen-year old. The sequel, Still Sucks To Be Me, is pretty great too.
3. Jessica’s Guide To Dating On The Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
This book is utterly ridiculous and totally un-put-downable (that’s a word, okay?).
4. Ghostgirl by Tonya Hurley
The first in a wonderful and one of my favorite trilogies ever, Ghostgirl is a coming of age story about love, friendship and self-acceptance. All told through the eyes of a 16 year old ghost attempting to graduate into heaven.
5. Married with Zombies by Jesse Petersen
Young married couple on the verge of breaking up? Check. An apocalyptic zombie infestation? Check. Said troubled couple becoming zombie exterminators and salvaging their marriage in the process? Check.
Everything you never knew you needed.
Have you guys read any of these and how’d you like them?
Which are your go-to books to unwind and relax, or to just have a laugh?
